Project Far Away Family #3

Last week we picked something simple from our list to help us connect to our far away family. I chose a phone call, and boy was I glad. My 3-year old nieces voice was such a sweet little sound! I wish I could put her voice in a seashell and wear it around my neck like Ariel in The Little Mermaid. I was just thrilled to have talked to her on the phone and am ready to keep our connection alive.

This week I am working on putting a photo album together to send to Little Miss Precious niece #1. That way she can look at photos of my family whenever she likes. I found a cute pink photo book at Target for just 1.00 and I will print some photos out at the kiosk at HEB to put in it. Total project including shipping will cost less than $10. I could send her digital format, but I want to give her something tangible.

With Easter approaching, next week's project will be a little more grandiose.
Happy Crafting Y'all. Please share how you connected with your family this week. If you'd like to send a confidential e-mail, my address is crafthumanity@yahoo.com

Project: Far Away Family #2

This is assignment #2 in our far away family project. Last week I suggested you make a list of things you would like to do with your family if you were able to be with them. My list is above. (I printed the awesome journaling page from Sweetly Scrapped Art)

This weeks assignment is to do one of those things on your list. Start with the easiest, because maybe you need to break the ice. Since my eldest neice is 3 and a talker from what I hear, I am going to find out when a good time to call would be and give her a call. If you have trouble making calls to family try writing down some prompts in case you run into an awkward silence, and write down things they tell you that you don't want to forget.

Keep your list handy because we will be coming back to it later. Don't let that family slip away because you don't live close. Make those connections ASAP!

PS feel free to comment here about what you did from your list, or you can email me at crafthumanity@yahoo.com

Project: Far Away Family

This is the first of a series of projects that aim to bridge the gap between ourselves and our far away relatives. I have 3 neices (2 whom I have not met) in California. I live in South Texas. Of course I wish I could see them more, but since I can't, I am not going to dwell on that fact. Project Far Away Family is simply baby steps for creating and maintaining connections.
Project #1: make a list
Think about your far away family members and make a list of what you would like to do if you visited them. The longer the list, the more ideas you'll have to work with for next weeks project. Fell free to comment with something you would REALLY love to do with that far away family. I know I'd like to have a super fancy dress up party with 2 of my neices (the 3rd is only a couple of days old).
