Another Bloggiesta mini-challenge brought to you by Splash of Our Worlds. This one tells us how to make You Tube videos fit on our blog as opposed to hanging over the sidebar or post. Guess what? It's really easy!

Bloggiesta mini-challenge: Mr. Linky

The first mini-challenge (brought ot you by The Book Butcher) I am completed is learning how to use Mr. Linky. This is a site that creates a widget which allows visitors to link up their pages instead of posting a comment. This will help me on Wednesdays when I am collecting pages (free spots-check back Wednesday!) to add to our rafflecopter form for our giveaways. This way will give facebook and blog pages that join us 2 separate places for free marketing.
So, here it is! The first Mr. Linky form for Crafty Fridays. Please go ahead and link up your page or blog!

Bloggiesta To-do List

It's Bloggiesta time! From today until Sunday I will be working on my blog to-do list. Blogging is a way to creatively express myself, and I enjoy it. There's so many ideas in my head, I've got to put them somewhere, right? So, here's my list:
1. Catch up on pre-planned posts
2.figure out how to make a button so others can post it on their blogs
3.add ideas to blog writing calendar frequently
4.do as many Bloggiesta mini challenges as I can!

Well, I only have 4 items to do since I'm new to this and not really sure what it is I need to work on. Happy Blogging everyone!
(PS I have a giveaway on the previous post)

Perfectly Loved Review

I was very excited to come across the (in)spired deals blogger review opportunity and received the items just before my 30th birthday. I received a beautiful piece of wall decor and a lovely cofee mug.

The mug is something I now cherish. It has the scripture {1John 4:8} 'She didn't have to be perfect because she was perfectly loved' on the side and is a scripture I will carry with me as I grow spiritually. It makes me think that not only God, but my family also loves me perfectly even when I am not.

I must also add that the handle on the mug fits my fingers much more comfertably than a regular mug.

Dayspring gave me these products for free to review and these opinions are solely my own.

Project Far Away Family #3

Last week we picked something simple from our list to help us connect to our far away family. I chose a phone call, and boy was I glad. My 3-year old nieces voice was such a sweet little sound! I wish I could put her voice in a seashell and wear it around my neck like Ariel in The Little Mermaid. I was just thrilled to have talked to her on the phone and am ready to keep our connection alive.

This week I am working on putting a photo album together to send to Little Miss Precious niece #1. That way she can look at photos of my family whenever she likes. I found a cute pink photo book at Target for just 1.00 and I will print some photos out at the kiosk at HEB to put in it. Total project including shipping will cost less than $10. I could send her digital format, but I want to give her something tangible.

With Easter approaching, next week's project will be a little more grandiose.
Happy Crafting Y'all. Please share how you connected with your family this week. If you'd like to send a confidential e-mail, my address is crafthumanity@yahoo.com

Merchandise Monday: Supply Pusher & Architette Studios

Last Monday (2/27/12) I ordered some charms from Supply Pusher on Etsy. I received them on 2/29 and they are great! She also included this little flower beads in the bottom bag in the photo as an extra gift. I am working on some fabric charm bracelets to put these on.

Today, 3/5/12, I will be ordering a hand-drawn bluebonnet card from Architette Studios. It has been on my favorites for awhile, and I plan to frame it for my daughter's room. Please check out her shop when you get a chance. Her drawings are amazing and unique!

If you have an ETSY shop, please add the link to the 'Monday Merchandise' photo album on our facebook page so I can take a look and add your goodies to my faves.

Happy Crafting <3 Jenn

Project Pretty

Project Pretty

The lovely blog i heart organizing is hosting a project pretty link party. Being my birthday weekend (yes a whole weekend of fun) and pre-planning for that, I didn't have much time to gussy up some goods. But i did manage to paint some jars for my newly renovated craft area.

Crafting for a Cause

Last March the kids and I came across an interesting way to craft for a cause. Students Rebuild was collecting paper cranes to raise money for rebuilding the wreckage caused in the earthquake and Tsunami. For each paper crane sent in, $1 was donated. They wanted to raise $200,000. When all was said and done over 2 MILLION paper cranes were sent in . We sent the 4 pictured here:
In January 2012, a sculpture entitled 'Gift by Gift for a Better World' was displayed using 100,000 of the donated cranes. It is an amazing amount a cranes! They will also be giving gift boxes filled with paper cranes to the children of Japan as a symbol of hope.

You can contine to help by purchasing a poster here.
If you find a way to craft for humanity please submit it to crafthumanity@yahoo.com We can't rebuild devestated cities by ourselves, but when we all do a small part it comes together to for something BIG!

Project: Far Away Family #2

This is assignment #2 in our far away family project. Last week I suggested you make a list of things you would like to do with your family if you were able to be with them. My list is above. (I printed the awesome journaling page from Sweetly Scrapped Art)

This weeks assignment is to do one of those things on your list. Start with the easiest, because maybe you need to break the ice. Since my eldest neice is 3 and a talker from what I hear, I am going to find out when a good time to call would be and give her a call. If you have trouble making calls to family try writing down some prompts in case you run into an awkward silence, and write down things they tell you that you don't want to forget.

Keep your list handy because we will be coming back to it later. Don't let that family slip away because you don't live close. Make those connections ASAP!

<3 Jenn

PS feel free to comment here about what you did from your list, or you can email me at crafthumanity@yahoo.com

Welcome to March! It's try-it Thursday and we've rounded up some awesome St. Patrick's Day crafts for your inspiration.

Yesterday on Tuesday  has a great upclycling project for St. Paddy's day.
Plus, a really cute pennant idea for our paper crafters.

Lastly, these printable gift tags from Good Gravy will give any gift a lucky touch on March 17th.

Craft Humanity: CareWear

Care wear (www.carewear.org) is a group of volunteers (people like you and me) that make little baby clothes and toys for newborns and children in hospitals. They have been doing this since 1991. They have many different patterns you can use whether you sew, knit, or crochet. This baby bootie pattern is simple and can be done by any level of sewing ability. There is also a super cute bunny pattern plus many others.
In the hospital link on their homepage is a list of hospitals (maybe one in your area) that are in need of specific items. Click the newsletter link to find a plethora of patterns and info about this project.
Please take the time to put some items on your crafting to do list,  and feel free to send in some pictures once you have some items ready to send off.
I'll be working on some items to send out next Tuesday. Pictures will be posted!

Merchandise Monday: Supply Pusher

                         Supply Pusher ETSY store
It's Merchandise Monday! I try to purchase supplies on Monday hoping they will be here before the weekend (sometimes that is NOT the case), but a lot of shops ship quickly.Today's purchase was clock and horseshoe/heart charms from Supply Pusher. I have a big drawer of jewelry making supplies and needed a couple of pieces to re-spark my enthusiasm in creating some goodies.

Monday Merchandise posts will also include when the item is received and a bit of quality assurance. Sort of like a review, but I am not getting anything for free. To be featured in a Merchandise Monday post, please add your online shop (preferably ETSY) to the Merchandise Monday album on our Facebook page so I can add some of your stuff to my favorites.

Happy Crafting!

Project: Far Away Family

This is the first of a series of projects that aim to bridge the gap between ourselves and our far away relatives. I have 3 neices (2 whom I have not met) in California. I live in South Texas. Of course I wish I could see them more, but since I can't, I am not going to dwell on that fact. Project Far Away Family is simply baby steps for creating and maintaining connections.
Project #1: make a list
Think about your far away family members and make a list of what you would like to do if you visited them. The longer the list, the more ideas you'll have to work with for next weeks project. Fell free to comment with something you would REALLY love to do with that far away family. I know I'd like to have a super fancy dress up party with 2 of my neices (the 3rd is only a couple of days old).
